  • Account information: your name, username, and email address.
  • Chat content: the messages and other information you choose to share with the chatbot during conversations.
  • AI-generated content: responses and feedback generated by the AI based on your conversations.
  • Conversation history: conversations are saved so you can retrieve them later and continue learning.
  • Usage and technical data: app usage, diagnostics, and subscription-related technical data (for example through Google Firebase and RevenueCat) to operate and improve the app.
  • Device permissions: microphone and Bluetooth permissions, if enabled by you, for voice recognition and the use of Bluetooth microphones.

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide the core language learning experience, including AI conversations and feedback.
  • To send your chatbot messages (and your username) to OpenAI so the AI can generate responses.
  • To store and retrieve conversation history for continuous interaction and learning.
  • To improve our services, app quality, and user experience, including analytics and diagnostics.
  • To manage subscriptions and access to paid features using RevenueCat.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use your data for cross-app advertising tracking.

We share data only with service providers that help us operate Talkback Academy:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud: used for app infrastructure, storage, analytics, and diagnostics.
  • RevenueCat: used for subscription and entitlement management.

These providers process data on our behalf to provide their services and are expected to protect it using appropriate safeguards.

Before using AI chatbot features, users are informed that chatbot messages and the username are sent to OpenAI to generate responses. By continuing to use the AI features, you consent to this processing.

6. User Rights

You have the right to access, amend, and delete your data at any time. This includes your account, saved conversations, and profiles or learning data generated through use of the app.

7. Security of Data

We are committed to protecting your personal data and implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect it against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction, or damage.

8. Children’s Privacy

Talkback Academy is not intended for users under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Your data may be processed by our service providers (including OpenAI, Google Firebase / Google Cloud, and RevenueCat) in the UK, EU, and other countries where they operate. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
